Prophet of the Restoration • Post-Exilic Period
Haggai was a prophet who ministered to the returned exiles in Jerusalem after the Babylonian captivity. He called the people to prioritize rebuilding the temple of the Lord, encouraging Zerubbabel the governor and Joshua the high priest to lead the restoration. His prophecies helped restart the temple construction that had been delayed for years.
