Medad was one of the seventy elders selected to assist Moses in leading Israel. Like Eldad, he remained in the camp when the Spirit of the Lord came upon the elders, yet he also received the Spirit and prophesied. His prophetic ministry demonstrated that God's Spirit was not confined to the Tent of Meeting but was given according to God's sovereign will.
