Rehoboam, the son of Solomon, became king over Judah after Solomon’s death. His harsh response to the people contributed to the division of the kingdom, leaving him to rule Judah while Jeroboam ruled Israel. He had multiple wives, including Mahalath and Maacah, and was the father of Abijah.
