Thomas, also called Didymus, was one of Jesus' twelve apostles. John records his willingness to accompany Jesus toward danger, his question during the Last Supper, and his initial doubt concerning the resurrection. After encountering the risen Jesus, Thomas confessed, 'My Lord and my God.'
