Second Priest of Jerusalem • Fall of Judah
Zephaniah was a leading priest in Jerusalem during the final years of the kingdom of Judah. Serving as the second priest under the high priest Seraiah, he was involved in communication with the prophet Jeremiah during the Babylonian crisis. After Jerusalem fell to Babylon, Zephaniah was captured along with other officials and taken to Riblah, where Nebuchadnezzar ordered his execution.
