Roman Centurion • Early Church
Cornelius was a Roman centurion of the Italian Regiment stationed at Caesarea. He was described as devout, God-fearing, generous, and devoted to prayer. After receiving a vision instructing him to summon Peter, Cornelius gathered his household and friends to hear Peter preach. The Holy Spirit fell upon the Gentile listeners, and Cornelius and his household were baptized.
