High Priest • Post-Exile
Eliashib served as high priest during the time of Nehemiah and helped lead the rebuilding of Jerusalem's walls after the Babylonian exile. He and the priests rebuilt and dedicated the Sheep Gate, demonstrating spiritual and civic leadership in the restoration of Jerusalem. Later in Nehemiah, Eliashib became associated with compromises involving Tobiah, creating tension with Nehemiah's reforms.
