Priest and Scribe of the Law • Post-Exilic Period
Ezra was a priest and skilled scribe in the Law of Moses who led a later return of Jewish exiles from Babylon to Jerusalem during the reign of Artaxerxes I. He helped restore the spiritual life of the people by teaching the Law, calling for repentance, and reestablishing covenant faithfulness among the returned community.
