Joseph Barsabbas

Candidate to Replace Judas • Early Church

Joseph, called Barsabbas and surnamed Justus, was one of the two disciples nominated to replace Judas Iscariot among the Twelve. He had accompanied the disciples throughout Jesus' ministry, from the baptism of John until the ascension. Matthias was ultimately chosen by lot.
