Joseph of Arimathea was a respected and wealthy man who took responsibility for Jesus' burial. The Gospels describe him as waiting for God's kingdom, a disciple of Jesus, and a member of the council who had not consented to its decision. He requested Jesus' body from Pilate and placed it in a tomb.
