Phoebe

Servant of the Church at Cenchreae • Early Church

Phoebe was a Christian woman commended by Paul to the believers in Rome. Paul identified her as a servant or deacon of the church at Cenchreae and asked the Roman Christians to receive her in the Lord and assist her. He also described her as a benefactor or patron of many, including himself.
