Leading Man of Malta • Early Church
Publius was the leading man of Malta who welcomed Paul and his companions after their shipwreck and entertained them for three days. When Publius's father became ill with fever and dysentery, Paul prayed, laid his hands on him, and healed him. Other sick people on Malta subsequently came and were healed.
