Disciple Also Called Dorcas • Early Church
Tabitha, whose Greek name was Dorcas, was a disciple living in Joppa who was known for good works and charitable acts. After she became ill and died, believers summoned Peter from nearby Lydda. Peter prayed and told her to arise, and she was restored to life.
