Prophet of the Final Old Testament Period • Post-Exilic Period
Malachi was the final prophet of the Old Testament era, ministering to the restored community in Judah after the temple had been rebuilt. He rebuked corrupt priests, condemned spiritual apathy, and called the people back to covenant faithfulness. Malachi also foretold the coming of a messenger who would prepare the way for the Lord.
