Silas was a leading member and prophet of the Jerusalem church who was chosen to help deliver the Jerusalem Council's decision to Antioch. He later became Paul's missionary companion, traveling through Syria, Cilicia, Macedonia, and Greece. Silas shared Paul's imprisonment in Philippi and helped establish and strengthen several early Christian communities.
